Strengths and drawbacks

Good

  • True plug-and-play: touchscreen + built-in simulator, HDMI to projector, no PC needed source
  • Ball data 'almost perfectly in line' with a Foresight GCQuad in the reviewer's test source
  • Huge course library (43,000+) and multi-player profiles source
  • Tracks putts as well as full shots source

Watch out for

  • Club data hit-and-miss, angle of attack weakest source
  • Small hitting area (reviewer estimate ~70 sq in) source
  • Annual fee for the on-unit simulator source
  • About $5k - expensive for a side-of-ball camera unit source

Room you need

The unit sits beside the ball, facing the golfer. Plan for at least 4.00 m (13 ft 1 in) of depth; 5.40 m (17 ft 9 in) is recommended. The ceiling you need depends on your height and swing. For a left-hander the unit moves to the other side of the mat.

Subscription

Only for the built-in simulator: Garmin Golf membership, about $100 a year.

Software

Own software: Home Tee Hero on the unit (no PC needed).
